If you are the type of person who loves to be the house where the action is at, it may be time to take a closer look at what you have in your dining room. The dining room is now often the center of the entertaining space in a home with one of the more current trends being Asian inspired dinners.
For the most part these types of Asian inspired dinners take place in modern homes, as that is the type of décor that best suits the theme. So, if you already have modern décor, your modern dining tables will suit just fine. If not, you may want to make a couple adjustments and decorate to make it feel a little more like an Asian bistro or give a similar feel.
Side Tables Wood
There are a couple of different ways these dinners can go:
Sit Down Dinner - First you can use your modern dining tables as you usually would and have everyone take a seat around them as dinner is served. This allows time for people to really enjoy each portion of the meal as well as getting to know those that are sitting nearest to them.
Social Buffet - The next option is for a social buffet. In this case you turn your modern dining tables into buffet stations with a number of items on each of them. You will also have small plates, serving items and utensils so people can try a little of everything.
What and How to Serve
No matter which style of dinner you are serving, there are a couple of details that you want to keep in mind.
First, unless you really know the crowd you are serving to, you may want to limit the really out there food items. Asian themed meals can go from one extreme to the next. While you may have acquired a taste for sea slugs and jellyfish over the year, not all of your guests may have as gutsy of taste buds. If you are going to serve very exotic fare try to make sure that those are side dishes or items that people can opt out of and make the main meal a little more mainstream.
When it comes to table settings or even the buffet settings, you want to remember, you are working within a theme here, don't mess it up with normal utensils and plates. You may want to purchase a number of rectangular sushi plates to use as your buffet plates. You can find these made out of porcelain, bamboo and other materials. These have the right look for the theme.
Another thing you should have is chopsticks. This is part of the culture and style of this food, don't lose out. But if you are serving an upscale dinner do you really want to use those wood, splintering chopsticks? Instead, why not really add to your modern décor style by adding a little art to the serving ware. There are many artist chopsticks on the market. Some of them are made for a couple of uses, but if you want ones that will last the test of time you can even find titanium chopsticks that are beautifully decorated and will be around for years to come.
